The Reason this Democratic Party is Hiding their 2024 Election Autopsy: The Inside Story.

The decision by the DNC to block the publication regarding its own autopsy report concerning the 2024 election appears shocking but to be expected. Averse to hard truths, the Democrats' governing body behaves closer to a publicity machine than a political organization focused on building local power to secure victories.

A Culture Resistant to Internal Critique

Unwilling to depart from the prevailing attitude of conformity, the committee has remained within the Biden-Harris shadow throughout this past year. Making public an official autopsy would have indicated whether the leadership actually want to foster honest conversation about the strategic failures that enabled Donald Trump to return to the White House. However, the DNC is proceeding as if there are no lessons to understand following the tragic debacle from the last cycle.

The top priority: is this good for winning elections? Should the answer be negative, it’s a distraction from the core mission," a rationale reportedly given to justify concealing the document.

Major Failures a Report Could Have Examined

A genuine analysis worth its salt would tackle head-on a series of difficult topics. Among them are:

  • Voter Disengagement: The loss among millions of voters who supported the party's candidate during the previous election became a critical factor in the narrowly decided recent race.
  • The Choice to Run: The determined choice by the incumbent to stay in the race, alongside a very late withdrawal, is viewed as denying the party's base of a competitive nomination process.
  • Losing Touch With Core Democratic Voters: While facing economic anxiety, the campaign is criticized for bowing to corporate donors' interests without successfully attempting to address the effects of corporate greed.
  • The Foreign Policy Factor: An unwillingness to reconsider a stance concerning a ongoing war is cited as driving away many voters, notably among youth voters, Arab-Americans, Muslim voters.
  • Losing Young Voter Backing: Polling data demonstrates a significant drop-off in Democratic support among voters aged 18-29.

A Record of Evasion

Choosing secrecy fits a longstanding habit to avoid difficult realities. It echoes an episode in which virtually every Democratic officeholder in Washington supported a sitting president's decision for running for re-election right up until a catastrophic public debate performance led to a reversal.

Meanwhile, large majorities within the party's base had been repeatedly informing pollsters that they opposed the incumbent to run again.

Financial Concerns

A thorough analysis would also probe issues regarding financial allocations, including how much money went to high-priced advisors and ad buyers over the course of a campaign which expended an enormous amount over a few months.

The Larger Problem

Ultimately, the blockage surrounding this report highlights a submission toward the existing power structure who engineered a losing national race. The signal for the party's base – including millions of dedicated activists – is that they do not have a right to know the lessons the insiders have learned from a report drawing from feedback from all states.

A party unwilling to honestly assess its mistakes is unlikely to climb out of the rut which was so helpful to the winning candidate.
