Purdy Establishes a Personal Best with 5 Touchdown Passes as 49ers Roll Over the Indianapolis

In a primetime contest, quarterback Brock Purdy turned in a historic performance, throwing a career-best five touchdown passes to lead his team to a commanding 48-27 triumph. The winning effort was capped off by a key 74-yard pick-six for a score.

Scoring Fireworks Lead the Way

Purdy was exceptionally sharp, completing 25 of his 34 passes for 295 yards. His primary targets included star tailback Christian McCaffrey, who gained 117 yards on 21 carries and also hauled in six passes for 29 yards and two touchdowns. Tight end George Kittle also had a big night, making seven catches for 115 yards and a touchdown.

Postseason Picture Taking Shape

With this win, the winning side continued their winning streak to five consecutive games, solidifying their standing in the hunt for a high playoff seed. This triumph also snapped a five-game losing skid against this particular rival.

The visiting quarterback, in his second appearance after a long absence, put up a strong fight, throwing for 277 yards and two touchdowns. However, a late turnover returned for a score ultimately sealed the contest.

Game Recap

  • Opening Frame: The scoring opened with a 20-yard touchdown pass from the opposing quarterback. Purdy responded with a 22-yard scoring strike to even the score.
  • Second Quarter: After a fumble on the kickoff, Purdy connected with McCaffrey for a short touchdown. The other team answered back before Purdy threw his third TD pass to regain the lead.
  • After Halftime: Purdy continued his hot streak, tossing another touchdown pass early in the second half. A fourth-quarter rushing touchdown by the opposition briefly closed the gap.
  • Final Quarter: The winning team sealed the victory with another Purdy-to-McCaffrey touchdown connection, followed minutes later by the game-clinching interception return.

This defeat marks the fifth consecutive loss for the visiting squad, hurting their postseason hopes as the campaign nears its end.
