I cannot count on three years at United - Ruben Amorim
United's manager - seen receiving consolation post May's continental cup disappointment - says he is pleased by the co-owner's extended support but stressed that tomorrow is uncertain in the sport.
United's manager Amorim thinks it is important Sir Jim Ratcliffe went public with his long-term thoughts - but says nothing is certain about tomorrow in football, much less three full years.
During a discussion with a major publication last week, the co-owner stated it might require the manager three seasons to make a significant impact at United's home ground.
Arriving during a time when the manager's position has been receiving close inspection after a prolonged run of disappointing results, the statements assisted in calming some of the immediate pressure.
However, talking ahead of the 100th meeting with historic adversaries Liverpool at Anfield, the United boss underscored that the future is hard to predict in soccer.
"It's truly positive to receive that message but he tells me constantly, occasionally through communication post fixtures - but recognize, I realize and Ratcliffe understands, that soccer doesn't work that way," he commented.
"The vital factor is the upcoming match. Even with owners, you cannot control tomorrow in soccer."
Chief executive the club executive has admitted it has taken significantly extended periods for the manager to acclimate to the Premier League after his transfer from Sporting in November than anybody anticipated.
The Red Devils have secured 10 successes in 34 Premier League matches during Amorim's tenure. They are yet to win two league games in a row and didn't complete a round of league games in the current term higher than ninth.
The dire statistics are stretching belief in Amorim among the Red Devils supporters approaching a sequence of matches the side has performed poorly in for the previous two campaigns.
Amorim said he doesn't sense the instability internally at the team's practice complex and is adamant nothing compares to the expectation he applies to the team - and in certain ways, he would rather Ratcliffe to avoid attempting to create tranquility because he worries the influence it may create on the squad.
"It isn't merely something people discuss, I experience it every day," he stated. "It's really good to listen to it because it assists our supporters to comprehend the management know it is going to take a period.
"However simultaneously, I dislike it because it generates a sense that we own time to resolve issues. I don't wish for that feeling in our organization.
"The expectation I apply to the players or to myself is significantly greater [than that from outside]. In the sport, particularly at major teams, you must demonstrate your worth every weekend."
